On Saturday, 23rd January 2021, the Academic and Technical School Celebrated the 150th “Founder’s Day”. The day marked a significant Milestone in the history of the school.
The celebration began with the blessing of the ‘Special Sesquicentennial’ Flag of the academic school & the ‘ Golden Jubilee’ Flag of the Technical school by the Alumnus Fr. Manuel Fernandes & Fr. Ivan D’Souza. The flags were then hoisted by the Hon. Chairman Mr. Joseph D’Souza and Trustee Mr. Adrian D’Silva with the playing of the school Anthem. As a mark of respect to the founder his bust was garlanded. His Lordship Bishop, Barthol Barretto, the Priests and other guests were welcomed by the school Band and led to the new school hall for the holy Eucharist. The Guest were presented a plaque and bouquet as a sign of gratitude. Mrs. Susana Gomes the Principal of the academic school formally welcomed all guest. The Principal of the technical school Mr. Sandesh Sarvade took the gathering down memory lane with a brief PowerPoint presentation showing glimpses of the school’s journey over the last 150 years.
Trustee Professor Mrs. Lilla D’Souza’s inspiring words added flavor to the celebration. The two silver Jubilarians Mrs. Monalisa Aguiar of the Primary Section and Mr. T. Rajakumar of the Junior College were felicitated on this occasion. The staff of the Primary section presented the Antonian Medley followed by a Folk dance by the Secondary staff.
Tasty snacks and delicious lunch was served to everyone present. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Supervisor Miss Shobha Shetty. 23rd January, 2021 will always be a significant day to be reminisced by all Antonians.
On the 26th January 2021 our school ensured that the fervor of patriotism lives on, and shifted our Republic Day celebrations online. The live part of the online Republic Day celebrations was the flag hoisting ceremony at the school where Supervisor Ms Shobha Shetty hoisted the national flag along with the Principal, the Vice Principal, Headmistress and Teachers. This was followed by singing our National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ , Pledge and Periotic song played by Our Band troop.
As the pandemic is still raging, the teachers went digital, to connect with both students and parents, to make this celebration a memorable one. To commemorate the 72 years of Republic India, the teachers worked meticulously to make this day an eventful one. Class teachers of every standard connected with parents and students through Google meet at 8.30 am. A pre-recorded video on Republic Day was presented to the students to view. Students of each class also sang patriotic songs and made speeches in their respective virtual classes. The celebration ended with a thank you to the students and parents for joining this virtual celebration.
Christmas is a time to give and forgive. Celebrated everywhere as a joyous family affair, we too, at School celebrated Christmas as a happy time for our children and Staff. “Away in the Manger”, “Oh come all ye faithful……, “Rudolph the red nose reindeer” ,”Dashing through the snow……” etc. filled the air with festivity.
Christmas is the festival which inspires the spirit of sharing and caring. Soaking in the spirit of Christmas, Secondary section Celebrated Christmas Virtually with enthusiasm on December 21st , 2020. Video was shared on online Google Meet platform in which the students sang melodious carols ,the significance of the festival was explained to the students through the Christmas story.
Our School Staff celebrated its Annual Christmas Party on 22nd , December 2020 in the New School Hall. The programme was attended by our Honourable Trustee Mr. Joseph D’Souza, the Staff of the Secondary Section and Junior College. The hall was done up to its festive best. Everybody Participated in the Music, Dance.
The R. A. Podar College of Commerce had organised MATHEMATRIX, an inter school and inter collegiate Maths Digital Fest from 28th August to 30th August 2020. It aimed at presenting the subject to the students in a fun way through challenging competitions and exhilarating exhibitions. Our students of std 9 and 10 participated in various events like Puzzlaholic, Mission Impossible, Back to the future and Whodunnit.
Sarthak Labdhe of std 10A won the second place in the drawing competition-Deva Shree Ganesha.
Karan Sawant of std 9A won the third place in the X-men event.
Congratulations to all the winners who have made us proud
On the eve of ‘AKSHAY URJA DIWAS’, a virtual Science Quiz was held on August 20,2020 from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Students from std V to X participated in the quiz. Questions related to Energy, Astronomy, Scientists and their contribution were asked. The Rapid Fire round added a thrill to the competition. Students enjoyed this new experience. The sincere efforts and tremendous hard work put in by the entire team of science teachers made this event possible.
